Hungarian chilled cherry soup

Get it while it cold. This cherry soup is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer's day.

  • 500 gr cherries pitted
  • 100 gr sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 0,5 litre water
  • 1,5 tsp powdered vanilla
  • 300 ml whipping cream
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lime juice


  • Pit the cherries and blend with sugar and cinnamon. Let it sit for about 30 minutes. 
  • Add water, salt and vanilla and bring to a boil. 
  • Add the whipping cream and lime juice and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. 
  • Add the cornstarch and stir while the soup thickens. If it's too thick add more water or cream. 
  • Chill and eat when completely chilled.
